El Junco Lagoon
We visit El Junco Lagoon, located in the highlands of San Cristóbal Island. This is the only permanent freshwater lake in Galápagos, nestled inside the crater of an extinct volcano. A short hike takes you to the lagoon's edge, where you'll observe frgatebirds bathing and diving in the water, along with a variety of birds including white-cheeked pintails and common gallinules. The views from the crater rim offer spectacular panoramic vistas of the island's coastline and the surrounding ocean. This is a peaceful introduction to the natural wonders of Galápagos.
